What a great weekend mountain trip to
Haynesville, N.C.! Tony Stone, the president of the Murphy chapter, his wife,
Steve Stone and several more of that group came to lead us through the Chirohala
Skyway and some more twisters in the beautiful mountains of NC. There were 15
bikes in all. Saturday night the owner of the motel, who is a Star rider and his
wife, took some of us out to a seafood restaurant in SC and we watch the
football game while eating. Tony and his wife had invited us to come to their
home to visit but after dinner it was too late and we were all exhausted. Sun
morning we ate a continental breakfast and the group split up, the first group
made good time home but the second group took 15 hours to finally get back to
Cola. Bob Groves had two flat tires. We got the first one fixed but the patch
blew out and so we called Rick for help. On the way Rick’s truck had a problem,
so he called Patrick who came and met Rick, got Curt’s trailer and finished the
rescue. Thanks to all you guys for being willing to get out of your beds and
drive many miles to get us home safely. Of course “drag queen” Deb actually
dragged her crash bar and mounts and Lynn hit her kill switch on one of the
twisters but everyone was safe and happy. Don’t worry ladies; it happens to the
best of us!! Overnighters are fun. We ride safely according to the slowest
rider.
