2-3 May 09 Overnight Trip
Ride Leaders: Scott & Ken

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June in a Ken Worth pulling' logs. Cab over Pete with a reefer on and a Jimmy hauling hogs.

Oops, sorry wrong story. This was the first over night trip in a long time for the group. We started the ride with 10 bikes and 15 riders but one would have to drop out after having tire problems. It was a cloudy day with spots of sun that made the day a pleasant ride. Even with light rain from time to time it didn't hamper our spirits.

We stopped at a place called the Junction for lunch where we were greeted with great food and good music. Then on to Chasers for gas and a short rest stop. Stopping there for gas we were greeted with a steady rain in front of us till we got to Cherokee.

After checking in we all settled in our room then we visited the town for some shopping. Later on that night a few of us went looking for a local elk to feed but couldn't find any so we headed to the casino to our fortune on the one arm bandits. But no fortune was found.

The first day trip was 219 miles.

It rained most of the night and into the morning so we decided to cut the trip short and head back the most direct and quickest route home. Scott got me pointed in the right direction and we headed out of Cherokee. One short stop for a meet and greet with the Cherokee police and off we went on hwy 64 to I-40, then on to Asheville. A quick stop for Cajun, then down I-26 to the Junction restaurant for lunch. Afterwards, back on I-26 to Columbia we managed to stay ahead of the rain. After stopping at route 34 exit to say goodbyes we split up from there on home. The second day trip was 210 miles. All and all a great time, great company, even though some lost money at the casino.
