Ride Leader: Mack Pierce
WOW!! What a ride. It was a little over- cast when we started gathering at the Wal-Mart on Forest Drive, however that did not stop some of us from riding. We started out with 24 bikes and 30 people for what turned out to be a very wonderful day of riding. There were 8 new riders who had never ridden with the Star Riders; they are Mickey Coale, Jeff Youngblood, Don Wells, Mike & Susan Gilders, Ronald Hadnot, Russell Gray, Martin Mc Grew. (If any of the names are misspelled it is because I could not read Lea’s writing) We pulled out of the parking lot at 10:15 am as planned, down Percival Road then on to hwy 601 thru Camden to hwy 34 as we rode the weather started to clear up and the sun started to shine. Our first rest stop was about 68 miles down the road where we picked up another rider which brought us up to 25 bikes and 31 people. As the group left the rest- stop, one of the bikes would not start. Some of us turned around to see what the problem was. The rider told us to go on ahead that he would catch up. Johnny told him that was not our way that we did not leave anyone behind. Come to find out, it was only a loose ground wire on the battery. Once it was tighten, off we went to catch up with the rest of the group. Once we got to the restaurant (Old School House Restaurant) every one set down to one of the “second best things that the Star Riders do best” and that’s enjoying a good meal. On the ride back the group stopped at Extreme Sports in Sumter and started to go their different ways home. What a day; good weather, good ride, good friends, and great fellowship. Thanks Mack
