Lone Star

Ride Leaders: Mike G. and Cajun

What a beautiful day for a ride Mike G. led. We were going to Lone Star to meet up with the Beaufort and Florence Chapters for lunch. This had been in the planning for a couple of months by the chapter presidents. Chapter 124 left Columbia with 13 bikes and 18 people; we were to meet some more of the chapter where hwy 378 and hwy 601 cross. Well, just before we got to that point 5 bikes and riders caught up with us. They were from the Lancaster chapter. At the cross roads we also picked up 2 more 124 bikes and 3 people. Riding as tail gunner, I looked up the road and thought “what an impressive sight”; 20 bikes and 26 people all going to meet the Florence and Beaufort Chapters in Lone Star. Little did we know what was waiting for us at Lone Star! When we pulled up there were 30 or more bikes parked in the parking lot. What started out as three chapters getting together for a Meet and Greet lunch, turned out with five out of eight chapters from South Carolina, one from Georgia and another from North Carolina. We had around fifty bikes and seventy to eighty people, all star family. The three presidents that put this Meet and Greet together Shannon from Beaufort, Diane from Florence and Cajun from Columbia were over whelmed at the turn out. Old friends were reunited and new friendships made, but that’s what Star Touring is about. Looks like this could turn out to be an annul event!

Mike G. got a call from Garrett one of Chapter 124’s members saying that his wife had thrown the drive belt on her bike on the way from Savannah. Some of our members said that they would go and help getting the bike up on the pickup truck that Garrett had called. Cajun led the rest of the group home going down hwy 6 for those that live in the Red Bank area. We stopped at a gas station where hwy 6 and 321 meet and said our good byes. What a day! Great food, great friends and great weather, but that’s the way it generally is when Star Touring gets together.
