CHAPTER #124 April 17, 2006
Monday, April 17, 2006
Welcome to our guests, Wendy, Jeanne, and David Crump, and Joey Smith. Nice to have you.
First order of business: Due to the cost of providing our room and the dedicated servers here at Capt. George’s, the management will begin enforcing a minimum charge for anyone who orders drinks but does not order a dinner. That charge will be a minimum of $3.00. We would like to say that the restaurant has been very gracious in allowing us to continue to use this room at no charge to the Chapter, and thank them for continued good service.
The President introduced one of our special guests for this evening, representing Camp Kemo, Jeanne Schmidt, to speak about what Camp Kemo offers to the community of families that have children with cancer. Then the President presented Ms. Schmidt with a money order for $500 to defer the cost of sending one child to camp. Camp Kemo will be open June 12-16th. Motorcyclists are asked to join them to provide rides to the children on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 beginning at 9:00 am. please bring any extra helmets. Camp Kemo will hold their carnival on Wednesday, June 14, and the public is invited. Camp Kemo is: At the Connor Conference Center.
Vera’s daughter in law escorted six young ladies from her church in Pelion, SC. These young ladies had been collecting change for Camp Kemo and were present to give their donation directly to Ms. Schmidt. Congratulation to these young ladies for their wonderful effort.
Last Saturdays ride was two fold, first to deliver our Easter Baskets to Sister Care and then onto our ride led by George Parsons. We started off okay, even with the forecast for rain. We collected and delivered 42 baskets to Sister-Care. Thank you so much for your efforts in supporting this very worthy cause. Unfortunately due to the forecast many came in their cars and the ride did not happen. Sorry George, but thank you for all your planning.
Our ride for April 22 is still pending information. Jim Ballenger is working on the specifics. The Palmetto Voyagers and The Southern Patriot Shops are sponsoring the First Annual Ride for Camp Kemo. Sumter Extreme Sports is having their annual Open House. Jim will post the information for the Chapter ride on the web site
Florence is starting a Chapter and will be signing their charter on May 6, 2006. Information on the location and time will be on the web soon. Please consider joining us to support another sister chapter in the pursuit of the dream.
Our own, George Gooch won the 50/50. Congratulations George.
Respectfully submitted,
