NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC

CHAPTER #124 - April 21, 2003

President Jim Woods opened the meeting and thanked everyone for coming.  Please welcome four visitors that attended the meeting this month.  Laura and Jack Kotchish, Buddy Meetze, and Bo Murphy.

George Parsons thanked Lowell Thomas for all his work as the ride coordinator and for teaching him what he needed to know in order to continue rides for the club.  The ride to Deals Gap is this Thursday, April 24 and we will meet at the K-Mart in Lexington and leave there promptly at 10:00 a.m.  Make sure you have your helmets and rain gear.

Next month on May 3rd, we will have a group riding to Sumter to Extreme Sports for a show in which our club has won several awards in the past.  More information will be posted regarding this trip.  There will also be rides on May 10th and May 31st, details to follow.

Johnny Frick will lead June rides

Steve Lanford will lead July rides

Mack Pierce will lead August rides

Bill Reber will lead the September rides (one of these rides will be an overnight stay)

Ron Shepherd and Jim Woods will lead October rides

November rides led by George Parsons

Dates for Bike week at Myrtle Beach are May 9-18.

Watch the web calendar for postings of dates, times, etc for the above trips.

If you know about a Charity run, please get the information to George Parsons so he can plan for the rides.  Anyone can post to the calendar, if you have a problem please e-mail Terry Jones or you may e-mail Terry with the details of the event and he will post them to the web for you.

David Smith asked about the ride for children with cancer and Michael Smathers will check on that date.  The ride is the Camp Chemo ride and is normally held in September.  Michael said he will post the information on the web as soon as he has it.

Buddy Meetze told the club about his motorcycle shop, RSD Racing on Highway 1 in West Columbia and that he would give club members a 20% discount on parts.  He says he’s a little backed up right now on engine work but can get parts into the store in 2 or 3 days.  Cards and pens are available at the back after the meeting.

The drawing this month was for $82.50 and congratulations go to Michael Smathers for having the lucky number.

Michael Smathers led us in prayer and we all enjoyed a great meal.

After the meeting George Parsons met with the group going to Deals Gap and passed out paper work.  We have 29 people signed up for the trip.  WOW!!!

Remember all rides will use the 50/50 rule. In other words, > 50 degrees and < 50% chance of rain.   Please use The Weather Channel as your guide. (SAFETY FIRST)
