THE RUMBLINGS
President
Jim Woods opened the meeting and thanked everyone for coming.
Jim
said the club was going to buy radios for our rides and ask David Smith to talk
about what he had found in his search for radios.
David said he had found the MRC11 which has a range of around two miles
for $79.00 each. David will
purchase three of these radios for the club so we can have one in the front, one
in the middle and one in the back of the rides.
We
had seven new people at the club meeting this week.
Welcome to Allan Kelso, Vince and Mary Ann Pacchiana, Beth and Danny
Donahue and Joe and Vickie Covino.
Jim
asks that all who had not signed a waiver to ride please do so. Jim also said there were still some long sleeve and short
sleeve T-shirts for sale.
Lowell
Thomas, our ride coordinator said that George Parsons will lead a ride this
Saturday, February 22, 2003 to Lake Greenwood State Park. There is a history Museum at the State Park that you can go
in for $2.00 per person. The group
will meet at Wentworth Printing at the corner of 12th Street and
Augusta Road in West Columbia at 9:00 a.m.
George
Parsons said that the April ride to Deal Gap is a done deal. All 21 rooms are booked and he has started a waiting list.
George
also asked for feedback on what makes a good ride or a bad ride. Going to a large town, a small town, a long ride, or a short
ride. Please let him know your
thoughts.
The
raffle was $130.00 this week and Barbara Floyd won the raffle and $65.00.
Congratulations Barbara.
Michael
Smathers blessed our food and the meeting continued with dinner and dismissal.
Don't forget, if you would like to sponsor a ride contact Lowell Thomas to let him know you want a turn to lead us on your favorite roads, or a great route you have traveled. Remember all rides will use the 50/50 rule. In other words, > 50 degrees and < 50% chance of rain. Please use The Weather Channel as your guide. (SAFETY FIRST)
