The Rumblings
NEWSLETTER FOR
STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 January 21, 2007
Cajun called the meeting to order and made sure everyone had signed the charter for 2008. He then asked if we had any new members or guests and Franklin Watson, our guest introduced himself. He rides a Suzuki 800.
He wished everyone a happy New Year and talked about our New Year’s Day ride led by Ken and Deb. We went to Bob Evans restaurant in Rock Hill and everyone had a great time. The waitress was a real hoot and fit right in with our bunch!
Cajun reminded the incoming officers to stay after the meeting to sign some paperwork. He emphasized that we are a family group and always portray Starriders in a good light. We don’t drink or raise a ruckus on any of our rides. Our board members are:
Jim Ballenger-Returning VP
Paul Rogers-New Sgt at Arms
Carrie Hadden-New LOS Rep
Curt Pratt-Returning Ride Coordinator
Carol Griswold-New Treasurer
Andrea Collum-Returning Secretary
And last but definitely not least-Cajun Cavallier-Returning President
Jim mentioned that he would just as soon not have any more “Broken Spoke” awards for t he club this year. He and Paul won them at our Christmas party for the accidents they suffered in 2007. I think we can all agree to that!
Andrea asked if we have any new grandparents-to-be, and Deb and Ken piped up immediately!! Some of us went on a ride led by Scott earlier this month to Shealy’s in Batesburg. Ken’s son and his wife met us there and upon their arrival broke the good news to Deb. Within a second the WHOLE restaurant knew!! Not to be outdone, Jim and Jin announced that are expecting a grandchild as well! Than we discovered that Mike and Carol and Scott and April are also awaiting new arrivals to their families this year! How cool is that?!
Cajun asked that the ride leaders this year send him a write-up after the rides so he can post them to our “Latest Ride” page. The write-ups will stay on that page permanently, unlike the message board where they drop off in time. That way we can share our ride experiences with guests.
Carrie asked for pictures of our LOS members with their bikes and also pics of our LOS members who are passengers.
Lea announced that she has T-shirts to pick up and gave me the treasurer’s report. She will hand the treasury over to Carol at the end of the meeting.
Curt announced that Saturday is ride day and asked for anyone interested in leading to post to the message board. Cajun volunteered, so check the board for details.
Patrick will lead a ride on Superbowl Sunday again this year to a McAllister’s Deli somewhere and guarantees to have everyone home in time for kick-off.
We are asking ride leaders to sign up for the next six months. Cajun reminded us that it’s not the destination, but the journey that makes a ride so much fun and spoke about a ride Carrie’s father took with him. They went to McLeod’s, don’t know how they got there, but had a blast in the process! It really is all about the camaraderie.
Cajun asked us to think about how we want to raise money for Camp Kemo this year. It costs $500.00 for each child to attend and we want to help at LEAST one.
The meeting was concluded and the officers stayed to sign their paperwork.
Respectfully Submitted,
Andrea Collum
