Our Club President - Jim Wood opened the floor for the annual nominations for club officers. Terry Jones and Betty are moving and have to remove themselves from the nominations until maybe next year when everything is settled with their new job and home. We will miss them in their official capacity with the club. The position nominees for the club are listed below for you to consider for your vote during the November election. The elections will be November and if voted into the position and new role of leadership for the club, they will take office starting in January 2003.
The club voted on spending club funds to buy safety radios for three positions in the ride formations. The radios will aide the club safety initiative. What a great idea!
George Parsons spoke to the group on another scheduled trip to the Deals Gap area where we went this past April. It was such a great time and success that we wanted to do it again. The trip is planned for 24 through 27 April 2003. The room cost is going to be $50 - $55 per night. Meet in the K-Mart parking lot in Lexington at 10:00 on 24 April, 2003. It was announced that Whitney Grimshaw will be getting married March 1st, 2003. Congratulations Whitney, and to the parents Jim and Gerri Wood.
Kevin announced the local Motorcycle Safety Course is extending invitations and soliciting for Instructors. You could earn some money while doing what everyone loves to do RIDE MOTORCYCLES. If anyone is interested, look at the link on the News Page for more information on getting an application. Applications must be submitted before December 15th.
Don't forget the December formal meeting is the annual Christmas Party. The party this year will be held at Dukes Restaurant on December 11th. Dukes Restaurant is located in West Columbia on Emmanuel Church Road. It is one block from the intersection of Platt Springs Road and Emmanuel Church Road. The food will be buffet style and cost only $7.00 per person. The whole family is invited. Please make plans to attend. There will be a sign up sheet at the next meeting.
The CMA is sponsoring a Food Run this Saturday which will start at the old Lowes parking lot, which is also the new Carolina Pottery parking lot. The ride will be going to Lexington.
There is a link on the News Page that is for a worthy cause for the club to participate in - called "RIDE FOR THE RUSH." The ride is November 16th for anyone interested, click on the link on the News Page.
We took additional T-Shirt orders this month; so if you were unable to attend the meeting and would like a T-shirt, contact Gerri Wood at mawood01@sc.rr.com or Phone 782-4449. The cost for the T-shirts is $12 for Short Sleeve and $20 for Long Sleeve. You must specify your size and color. Gerri will also be getting a price for the Star Kids T-Shirt sizes for anyone interested.
The monthly 50/50 drawing the club uses in lieu of creating club dues was won this month by Elaine Nero (AKA: Nurse Betty). That should give her some money to buy Band-Aids and water? Elaine is our only current Tin Star. Congratulations Elaine. The 50/50 share this month was $80.00.
Our monthly ride will be this Saturday and will cover about 200 miles. We are meeting at the Big K / K-Mart in Lexington. We will ride to Monks Corner and eat lunch at the Dock Restaurant.
Don't forget, if you would like to sponsor a ride contact Lowell Thomas to let him know you want a turn to lead us on your favorite roads, or a great route you have traveled. Remember all rides will use the 50/50 rule. In other words, > 50 degrees and < 50% chance of rain. Please use The Weather Channel as your guide. (SAFETY FIRST)
CLUB MEMBERS SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY PEOPLE ALLOWED TO HAVE FUN—So, please join us at our next monthly meeting held at Captain Georges Seafood Restaurant on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, SC.
