THE RUMBLINGS

NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 - September 15th, 2003

President Jim Woods opened the meeting and thanked everyone for coming.

WOW, 64 people present at tonight’s meeting.  What a great group!!

George Parsons talked about the upcoming rides, and that there will be two rides in October led by Ron Sheppard.  Watch the web for posting on these rides.

Bill Reber says they are ready for the overnight ride to Savannah Georgia this Saturday, September 20th.  The group will visit the 8th Air Force Museum and the Charleston Chapter.  It has been suggested that in support of our military we put yellow ribbons on our bikes.  There is a strong possibility that the media will be there.  They will travel down highway 321 meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the Pilot station at exit 115 of I-26 and highway 321.  The museum has a guided tour and the cost is $5.00 per person, we should arrive there around noon.  Rick Floyd will lead an evening ride in Historical Savannah Saturday night, so plan to join Rick for what sounds like a very enjoyable evening.

George Parsons has a list of restaurants available to help you plan rides.  We will try to get this list posted to the web.

Please let your ride leaders know that you appreciate their hard work in planning rides for Saturdays and weekends.  These rides are not just thrown together but well planned and that takes a lot of time.  Let them know you enjoy the rides!!!

George Parsons has put together a list of rules for riders and we will have this posted to the web soon.

David Smith talked about the badges and guidelines for joining the club.  Badges will not be made until you have attended at least 3 meetings and indicated that you want to join.  We have not charged for the badges and don’t want to have to charge for them but we can’t afford to make one for every person that comes to a meeting and then never comes back.  Please work with us on this and if you have been to the meetings and want to join make sure we know and we will have a badge made for you.

Mark your calendars now for the club Christmas Party!  The date is our regular monthly meeting, December 15 at 7:00 p.m.  Rebecca’s is catering the event and there will not be a business meeting that night.

The drawing this month was $110.00 and was won by Michelle Clark.  Congratulations Michelle!!

Michael Smathers mentioned how the club started with just a handful of people who met at Columbia Power Sports and had coffee and a box of donuts and now we have almost outgrown Captain George’s.  Rev. Smathers blessed our food and our ride home.

Nick Nero invited everyone to come to the Sumter County Fair September 29-October 4.

Don’t forget the meeting next month on October 20th and be safe!!
