Star Riders
Meeting The meeting was called to order by Cajun at 7:10pm Visitors included: Amy Hosenlopp- representative for Save the Greyhounds—she thanked us for our support and brought pictures and a DVD for Cajun to put on our web-site. We were also invited to a Greyhound poker Run on Oct 15th. $10 single and $15 double. There will be a raffle, free lunch and t-shirt. Cajun will post details on the web calendar. Davis Self, who invited us to the American Legion Riders group who meet on the 4th Wed of every month at the American Legion. Also attending were D.Barry Smith, Dale Hunt Sr., Bob Lowery, Ron Harrison, Tom and Sara Bellomy. Our condolences to our treasurer who was unable to attend tonight due to her brother’s death… Curt Pratt handled the 50/50 with a split deck. The 50/50 winner was Sue. Thanks Curt Bob Groves sported his new V-STAR 1100 now his wife will be joining the Ladies of the Star on her own bike. You go girl!!! Bob also told us that Shaw Industries is hiring supervisors and operators. The Job Fair is on Sat, Sept 27, or apply at Job Service in Cola. Congrats to Ken and Debbie on their new granddaughter and Dickey and Debbie on their new grandson, both born on 9-11-08. Cajun discussed the Christmas party which will be held at Murray’s on December 6 at 7:00. Plan to sign up at the meeting next month. If you plan to attend it will be $12 per person. It will be a great time, so watch your P’s and Q’s because Tassels and Shadow will be watching you!!!!! We will take nominations at the October meeting for the 2009 year board members. Remember only Star International members are allowed to vote. The Lancaster chapter will sponsor the Feed the Children truck on November 8th. Cajun will post the details on the web site. Florence Chapter 374 will host the Second annual charity event for Feed the Children on September 27th at Marshall Marine in Lake City, SC. Poker run will be $20 a hand. $500 for the best hand. Their will be prizes, free food and T-shirts. Everyone please come out and support our Florence group…Information will be posted on the web-site calendar. Ken brought the new Myrtle Beach ordinances to our attention. It seems they have made a lot of new rules, so if you are planning to go to the Fall Rally please check out these new rules. Our sanctioned ride is Saturday, Sept 20 led by Scott. Meet at the Shell Station across from Kmart in W Cola at 9am. Kicks up at 9:30am.It will be a picnic ride to the Strom Thurmond Dam with a ½ hour presentation of the history of the Dam. Bring your picnic lunch or whatever you want to cook on the grills provided there. Carrie will lead the October Halloween ride to the Corn Maze. We had a ball last year, so everyone plan to ride with us. Entrance fee was about $8 each. More information will be given at the October meeting. Carrie and Craig’s wedding is planned on October 11th will be a casual BBQ in Sumter. . Please see Carrie after the meeting for a head count of people planning to celebrate with them… Jim Ballenger suggested that maybe Curt should lead the November ride since his license will be reinstated after his recent illness. He agreed and will give us his plan later.
